Beatnuts Concert - NY, NY - March 4th, 2005

Beatnuts Marquee

Waited outside in the cold for over an hour before getting into the concert, but it was worth it. There were mad heads in the club with a fully stocked bar, so can't go wrong there. I didn't catch the name of the first group that preformed on stage but they were decent. There were some nice beats and lyrics. After a short intermission, another group, Outer Space came on and rocked the mic for a couple of tracks. Next up the Puerto Rican rapper Tito came out on stage and blessed the crowd with his rhymes along with a slew of guests.

Psycho Les of the Beatnuts on stage

At about 1:00 am Psycho Les came out on to the stage and took over the turntables. He started out with DJ Babu's Duck Season, which was a great track to begin. However JuJu's part was cut as Les went into another track. After about 5 tracks people started asking about JuJu. In between tracks Les took a lil break and said JuJu couldn't make it to the concert, but they were still going to make the best of the concert. Which certainly was the truth. Many tracks were played such as "Do You Believe", and "Watch Out Now" (with "Fuck J-Lo" mixed in to the track).

Then there was another N.I.C.E surprise when Greg N.I.C.E came out on the stage with Psycho Les. He got the crowd rowdy as Les played "Hot", "Turn it Out", "Off Tha Books", and a bunch of other tracks. Overall the concert was great. There was a lot of energy and all the tracks were bumping. Les was awesome to see in concert. I'll definitely be checking out the Nuts again in concert, hopefully with JuJu as well next time to get the full Beatnuts experience...
